Navy League Phuket COMSERV Projects

What is COMSERV "Community Relations" stand for?

COMSERV "Community Relations" is a term for building positive relationships bewteen the U.S. Navy and our local community. Through planning events and opening relationships with a wide spectrum of local businesses, organizations, and local community and education leaders COMSERV projects form a valuable outreach arm for the officers and crews of ships making port-of-call visits to Phuket.

Who can join COMSERV: For starters you, your office, your staff and your friends. Contact the Navy League Phuket COMSERV coordinator, or come to one of our meetings to learn how you can be supportive through your involvement.

As of 01 May, 2013 we have the following conservative estimates of people-hours, finance, and numbers of volunteers for COMSERV (Community Service) projects.

  • Number of COMSERVs: 109
  • Finance: 109 projects x average estimated budget of Baht 12,000 = 1.308 million Baht
  • Number of volunteers: 109 projects x average of 22 people = 2,398 volunteers
  • People-Hours: 109 projects x average of 22 people / COMSERV x 5 average hours of work / COMSERV = 11,990 people-hours.

The U.S. Navy with the assistance and sponsorship of Navy League Phuket and various other local organizations has accomplished 109 COMSERV projects with in the Grater Phuket area over the past few years. These projects have injected more than 1.3 million Baht into community improvements for the underprivileged, local institutions, and local schools, by 2,398 US Navy volunteers working more than 11,900 man hours.
